Über uns

The Lützen 1632 Museum is one of the region’s most modern and eye-catching museums. It sheds light on the hardships and horrors of a war that claimed the lives of around a third of the population in the Holy Roman Empire of the German Nation. At the heart of the exhibition is the mass grave as a moving anti-war monument.

The Lützen 1632 Museum perceives itself as more than just a historical museum that explores the events and consequences of the Thirty Years’ War in the region, especially due to its strong ties with the historical ensemble of the Gustav Adolf Memorial. It sees itself also as a place of remembrance and dialogue that invites visitors to engage with the protagonists and events of this epochal war and the questions it raises about the impacts, mechanisms and consequences of violence and armed conflicts in the past and present.
